About The Position
The Build and Release Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining the build environment, source code control system, and issue tracking systems. This role involves creating and testing builds, resolving issues, and streamlining the build process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of IT work experience, with at least 2 years in release management.
- Proficiency in quality methods, PC, PVCS, UNIX, and scripting languages.
- Strong subject matter expertise in release management processes.
- Experience working on complex projects across multiple disciplines and environments.
- Proficient in project management, spreadsheet, and database query tools.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the build environment and source code control systems.
- Create, test, and troubleshoot software builds, applying labels to files and communicating build statuses.
- Build scripts and develop installation procedures.
- Identify and implement procedures to streamline the build process, including automation and notification systems.
- Assist engineering management with selecting source code management systems and development tools.
- Provide guidance and support to junior technical staff as needed.
