About The Position

Colonial Farm Credit is seeking an experienced Relationship Manager for its Central Region territory, primarily covering specific Virginia counties. This role focuses on developing and managing strong customer relationships by delivering tailored credit solutions for agricultural and rural lending needs. The ideal candidate is a motivated business developer who thrives in a relationship-driven, community-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field (agricultural economics preferred), finance, or economics.
  • Agricultural lending or related experience preferred (5 years plus).
  • Residence in the territory served by the Central Region or contiguous counties.
  • Familiarity with the service area.
  • Strong interpersonal, sales, negotiating, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical, judgment, and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Computer experience with strong skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to attend networking opportunities and community events to build influencer relationships and foster business development.
  • Ability to be assertive and decisive in arriving at sound business decisions.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Ability to travel to/from prospective and current customers as well as industry functions.
  • Registration (current registration or ability to successfully register) with National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). This process requires fingerprinting; however, licensing is not required.
  • Acceptable background reports (credit, criminal, driving, and drug).
  • Must maintain a valid and current driver license.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stand for limited periods of time.
  • Ability to walk for moderate distances.
  • Frequent finger/hand manipulation (e.g., keyboard, office equipment, small hand tools, etc.).
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling while exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Agricultural economics degree preferred.
  • Agricultural lending or related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve present and prospective member customers with sound short-term, intermediate-term, and long-term loans according to Association and district policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Formulate business development strategies that target potential Farm Credit member customers, as well as referrals from builders, realtors, and other sources.
  • Service an assigned loan portfolio within delegated authorities.
  • Represent Colonial Farm Credit at community, industry, and networking events.
  • Promote related services to all current and prospective member customers.
  • Provide strong support to the Regional Lending Manager.
  • Serve as a key resource and mentor for less experienced staff.
