About The Position

Brown Brothers Harriman is seeking a Relationship Manager I to join the Capital Partners multi-family office team in Boston. In this role you will serve as the point person for ultra-high-net-worth clients, with a focus on developing core relationship management skills, client service, and portfolio management fundamentals. At this level, the RM I will generally co-manage accounts alongside a more senior RM, handling day-to-day client needs while building toward independent account ownership. You will manage day-to-day activities of the client base and ensure that client needs are met, including managing account maintenance activities, resolving account-related problems, and preparing client presentation materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required
  • 6+ plus years relevant ultra-high-net-worth client management experience
  • Excellent client service skills
  • Superior oral/written communication, analytical and thought leadership skills
  • Familiarity and comfort engaging with private business owners
  • Strong team player with a high work ethic and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of asset allocation, trust and fiduciary principles

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary or secondary point person on designated accounts, handling moderately complex relationships independently and partnering with senior RMs on the firm's most sophisticated, multi-generational client engagements.
  • Ensure all clients are highly satisfied with the service they are receiving as demonstrated by continuing to maintain their assets at BBH, gaining wallet share, and referring their friends and family to the firm.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of polished, insight-driven client meeting materials, account reviews, and periodic reporting that reflect the BBH standard of excellence.
  • Generate new business primarily through referrals from existing clients, with a growing focus on cultivating new relationships (working toward allocating up to 30% of your time to business development).
  • Serve as the first call for portfolio-related questions, including investments, markets and economy, asset allocation, and performance, building the trust and credibility that define a world-class advisor.
  • Develop a deep working knowledge of BBH's full suite of investment offerings across public markets, private equity, and alternative strategies.
  • Demonstrate command of the fundamentals of each investment discipline and ensure that every client's unique needs, goals, and values are thoughtfully addressed.
  • Implement tailored investment strategies to meet individual client objectives, leveraging BBH's proprietary guidelines and policy framework to construct client-specific plans with rigor and care.
  • Build and demonstrate high-level investment knowledge, including private markets, alternatives, and the risk and tax dimensions of wealth, and bring that knowledge to life in every client interaction.
  • Prepare for and lead client meetings with confidence and create compelling client meeting materials.
  • Exercise sound, professional investment judgment on behalf of clients, upholding the fiduciary standard that has defined BBH for over 200 years.
  • Assist in overseeing Relationship Associate work product related to client requests and account maintenance, ensuring accuracy and timeliness at every touchpoint.
  • Demonstrate 100% adherence to the compliance requirements of the business, maintaining documentation and written records of all meetings and discussions.
  • Act as the day-to-day contact point with clients, proactively identifying and elevating high-level risk issues to the Senior RM and/or Office Head.
  • Ensure compliance at the account level and oversee and respond to all compliance reports (i.e., overdraft reports, approved trades, delinquent documentation, IPSs).
  • Oversee all account maintenance activities including documentation, meeting materials, and performance evaluations.
  • Actively participate in personal and professional networks and research/monitor industry resources to identify potential leads, working in partnership with more seasoned RMs.
  • Build credibility and presence with clients through consistent follow-through, intellectual engagement, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Invest in your own professional development by leveraging the internal resources, mentorship, and institutional knowledge available at BBH.
  • Seek guidance from senior RMs and Team Leaders and demonstrate a growth orientation toward independent account management and long-term career advancement.
  • Coach, train, and mentor analysts, providing meaningful input on their career development and contributing to the next generation of BBH talent
