About The Position

The Relationship Advisor is responsible for delivering exceptional member service and fostering strong, lasting relationships with Members of Mazuma Credit Union. This role centers on gaining a deep understanding of each Member’s financial needs and providing personalized guidance and solutions tailored to those needs. The Relationship Advisor will recommend appropriate credit union products and services, ensuring that all offerings align with the individual financial goals of each Member. In addition to providing financial guidance, the Relationship Advisor processes a variety of financial transactions with accuracy and efficiency. The position plays a key part in supporting the success of the branch by working to achieve both individual and team sales and production goals, while ensuring strict adherence to all established credit union policies and procedures. The Relationship Advisor may also perform the essential functions of a Relationship Builder within the branch, such as teller transaction processing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service, preferably in a financial institution.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales goals and building strong customer relationships.
  • Experience with handling cash and balancing transactions accurately.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both written and verbal forms.
  • Demonstrates basic sales techniques and works to understand Member needs.
  • Shows a developing knowledge of financial products and services.
  • Able to work effectively with supervision and contribute to a team setting.
  • Organized and learning effective time management strategies.
  • Maintains confidentiality and follows established ethical guidelines.
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods as needed (up to eight hours).
  • Willing to take on multiple tasks and develop prioritization skills.
  • Attentive to detail and working toward accuracy in processing financial transactions.
  • Open to ongoing training and committed to professional growth.
  • Must be capable of standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching for periods of up to 8 hours or more.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day.
  • Must be capable of climbing and descending stairs in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer, tablet, telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance, including Saturdays.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in using financial software and systems.
  • Experience with opening and closing accounts, processing loan applications, and providing financial advice to customers.
  • 1 year of financial institution experience/retail banking strongly preferred.
  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding service to all Members, greeting them warmly, actively listening to understand their needs, and offering personalized product recommendations and solutions.
  • Accurately and efficiently process a variety of financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, and account transfers, and assist Members with ongoing account maintenance.
  • Open new accounts, including consumer, fiduciary, and business accounts, as well as shares such as savings, checking, money market, individual retirement accounts (IRA), and certificates of deposit, ensuring compliance with regulatory and credit union requirements.
  • Proactively identify and recommend suitable Credit Union products and services, such as loans, credit cards, and online banking services, and refer Members to business, mortgage, and wealth management when appropriate.
  • Achieve individual and team sales and production goals, actively promoting Credit Union products and services and participating in marketing sales campaigns.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all transactions and Member interactions.
  • Promptly resolve Member concerns in a professional manner, escalating complex issues to leadership as needed.
  • Stay current with Mazuma's products, services, and promotions, and actively participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and comply with all Credit Union policies, procedures, and security protocols.
  • Maintain a professional and organized work environment, upholding a professional appearance, and contributing to a positive team atmosphere.
  • Assist with other branch teams and operational tasks as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with Members and Team Members to foster a welcoming and supportive environment.
