About The Position

Under the daily supervision of the Urban Justice Coordinator and the general direction of the Director of Justice, the Reintegration Case Worker is responsible for the delivery of services for adult clients that are referred to the Reintegration Program. This position will provide support to the incarcerated client and their family members by developing an individualized case plan based on their criminogenic risk factors and also address challenges to sustainable employment. These are term positions ending March 31, 2027 which may be extended subject to funding.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Post-Secondary program in a human service related field.
  • Minimum of three years experience in a related field.
  • Must have experience injustice/social and group processes.
  • Knowledge of contemporary and historical barriers for Indigenous peoples.
  • An energetic self-starting person who displays initiative and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as well as experience conducting presentations to large groups.
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture, and both historical and contemporary Indigenous issues, emphasis being on family violence, child welfare, the impacts of trauma and community outreach.
  • Knowledge of the community resources within the City of Saskatoon. Capable of developing an inventory of services to coordinate, monitor and support individuals in accessing services, including but not limited to: housing, addictions, mental health, legal, leisure, education and employment.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with a variety of clients including colleagues, coordinators, and directors.
  • Able to handle a large caseload and cope with stress in a positive manner.
  • Excellent time management skills with planning and scheduling of client interviews and work-related responsibilities.
  • Excellent technology, computer experience and knowledge of database and Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.
  • Knowledge of Federal and Provincial Acts relating to employment and labour standards.
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and the Provincial Court process.
  • Must possess a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license, a reliable vehicle and meet STC’s insurance requirements.
  • Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the political, social and economic objectives of the Saskatoon Tribal Council and of the Dakota, Cree, and Saulteaux cultures will be considered an asset.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends, and to perform other related duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Case manage clients to assist in the transition from incarceration back into the community by connecting them to sustainable kinship and community resources that will aid in successful reintegration.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to assigned incarcerated clients and serve as a positive role model in the community for all clients.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all professionals including STC staff involved in the case plan.
  • Participate in the planning of the STC programming that complements the client’s case plan.
  • Maintain client case files and records that track the progress of individual clients′ successful integration of family with supports & services and successful training interventions including the use of the client database(s) and other tracking tools.
  • Facilitate programs and workshops.
  • Work with other STC programs and staff as well as external agencies to provide appropriate supports for client and family.
  • Attend and participate in Professional Development Training as assigned or required.
  • Attend meetings as required and assigned.
  • Prepare all reports necessary to ensure client case management and follow-up in an efficient, effective and timely manner as determined by your supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as defined and assigned by the reporting Director or designate on an as and when required basis.
