About The Position

Executes assumed reinsurance catastrophe risk management tasks and projects in conjunction with related team members in the reinsurance division. Will lead and design projects and solutions to solve assumed reinsurance catastrophe risk business problems. With team, propose solutions to business questions and monitor progress of projects. You will report to the Head of Reinsurance Pricing & Analytics, AmFamRe. We are open to candidates anywhere in the United States. This is a primarily remote position. Requirements

Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
Solid experience with catastrophe management software and catastrophe peril models.
Proficient knowledge and understanding of natural catastrophe risk and its application to the reinsurance space and catastrophe modeling.
Proficiency in programming languages suitable for database access, scripting, and statistical analysis.
Solid understanding of geospatial software tools and data.
Ability to work as part of a team and to communicate effectively.
Demonstrated experience using large amounts of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
Demonstrated experience making independent decisions and in project management methodologies, practices, techniques.
Solid knowledge with managing data to scale using data summarization, query and analysis software and tools.

Responsibilities

Performs assumed reinsurance catastrophe modeling analyses using catastrophe modeling software for the assessment of data input, model set-up, model execution, result extraction and loss analytics.
Communicates key model fundamentals including but not limited to Hazard, Vulnerability and Financial model components to peers and other functions.
Develops analytical tools, reports, and data to understand the impacts of natural disasters to the division's business, including applying a variety of geospatial analysis techniques to analysis projects.
Explore natural hazard data to incorporate into pricing, portfolio optimization, and accumulation management.
Evaluates reinsurance catastrophe management software and models and explores industry best practices and business strategies.
Partners with fellow assumed reinsurance catastrophe risk management team members to provide catastrophe related insights and recommendation.
Participates in the selection of research tools and technologies, design of a common research process, and brainstorming new opportunities and methodologies.
Proactively brings in new and innovative ideas and approaches to develop business.
May be requested to complete other assignments or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.
Supports live catastrophe event response with exposure summaries and loss estimates.
