About The Position

AGF Rebar is looking for Reinforcing Ironworkers (Rodbusters) to join their teams working on a variety of construction projects across the Calgary and Edmonton regions in Alberta, with opportunities to work on major infrastructure projects across Western Canada. AGF is a Canadian leader in reinforcing steel with over 75 years of experience and more than 50,000 successful projects. They take pride in building the strength behind major infrastructure such as bridges, tunnels, hospitals, high-rise buildings, industrial facilities, and more while maintaining a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship. They provide training and support for both experienced ironworkers and those looking to start a career in the trade.

Requirements

  • WHMIS certification required
  • CSTS-2020 required
  • Must be registered with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT)
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Previous construction or labour experience is an asset but not required
  • Willingness to learn rebar installation, tying, and basic construction methods
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Commitment to safe work practices
  • Journeyperson certification is an asset or must enter apprenticeship program

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret structural drawings and blueprints
  • Cut, bend, assemble, and install reinforcing steel
  • Tie and secure rebar according to specifications
  • Install rebar in footings, walls, slabs, columns, and other structures
  • Handle and move materials, including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Work with cranes and rigging equipment when required
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet deadlines
  • Follow all health and safety procedures
  • Work in a fast paced construction environment
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
