About The Position

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital South, operated jointly with Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join their team. This role is crucial in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the hospital's mission of prioritizing employee well-being. The hospital is recognized as one of America's Best Rehabilitation Hospitals and is a 50-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation facility dedicated to caring for patients in St. Louis who need continued care to recover completely. The COTA will be a vital member of an interdisciplinary team, utilizing their skills and compassion to make a significant difference in patients' lives.

Requirements

• High School diploma
• CPR/BCLS Certification
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum six months experience in an acute or long-term facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions under the direct supervision of the Occupational Therapist and as directed by a licensed physician, responsible for a specific patient's care.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for providing occupational therapy modalities and treatment procedures as determined by a treatment plan established by an Occupational Therapist in order to restore function and prevent disability following patient illness or injury.
• Carries out responsibilities in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies while maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care.
• Ability to Transport, lift, transfer, move and reposition patients in the patient room, Therapy Gym and other common areas of the hospital.
• Prepares patient for prescribed treatment and assists professional staff with patient treatment.
• Prepares, cleans and maintains treatment areas and equipment.
• Procures and keeps an accurate inventory of all therapy supplies.
• Performs routine clerical tasks for Therapy Department.
• Other duties as assigned.
