About The Position

Goodwill Greater New York and Northern New Jersey (GWNYNJ) is seeking an experienced Rehab Technician to provide orientation, assessments, monitoring of participants in evaluation program, facilitate intakes, and provide support to participants transitioning or in competitive employment. Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years related work experience (minimum requirement)
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Basic math skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook required.
  • Able to stand, lift a minimum of 30 lbs, read and exhibit a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to travel with own transportation (in services areas) required
  • Location assignments can change, with advance notice, based on the coverage needs of the people we support
  • Work in the community in addition to at the main office, and conditions at employer locations/community sites may vary
  • Must be able to work a full-time shift with some flexibility of periodic weekends and evenings to attend events or cover for a job coach if needed.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multi-task
  • Navigate and negotiate through difficult situations

Responsibilities

  • Review new referral and send out start letter within 5 business days of receiving new referral at the scheduling of Evaluator
  • Process and complete intakes for referrals.
  • Follow up on new referrals that do not come to their first & second appointment.
  • Explain and review all GW policies, procedures and handbook to new referrals, provide tours.
  • Administer evaluation tests based on the interest /needs of consumers and at the request of the referral agency and the direction of the Vocational Evaluator.
  • Score and compile all vocational test material and completed evaluation/observation summary reports.
  • Complete case notations on a daily basis and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in monitoring consumers performance during on/offsite assessments.
  • Maintain accurate test score records and files on consumers’ participation and re-test DVE consumers as needed.
  • Conduct regular inventory of testing materials and order new materials as per request of Vocational Evaluator.
  • Organize and prioritize daily, weekly and monthly schedule
  • Complete Individual Employment Plans; determine realistic employment goals with consumers.
  • Translate on behalf of consumers as needed, if fluent in another language.
  • Become familiar with CARF regulations and help prepare for and participate in CARF audits.
  • Attend all staff meetings, perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Provide intensive on-the-job training for consumers placed into competitive employment.
  • Assist consumers with job exploration and career development as needed.
  • Contact employers and determine job openings for consumers based on the employment goals provided by program lead.
  • Meet with employers & consumers in person, complete employer profile and task analysis paperwork at company site and submit to program lead upon completion of the employer site visit.
  • Activities are subject to change / be added to meet business needs with management approval.
