The Rehabilitation Technician works with the physicians and hospital staff in caring for patients with injured joints and bones throughout the hospital. The Rehabilitation Technician is responsible for setting up and maintaining traction and applying casts, splints and braces. This position ensures maximum therapeutic benefit of CPM (Continuous Passive Motion Machine) therapy through set up, daily treatment, evaluation of treatment effectiveness and teaching of patients and staff. The Rehabilitation Technician must maintain the orthopedic storeroom and supplies including; the cleaning and setup of CPM machines and polar packs and house-wide set up and removal of overhead frames, as well as, making sure the rooms, orthopedic equipment and supplies are present and in operating order in the Orthopedic Center. The Rehabilitation Technician is a regular staff member of the orthopedic center and assists in the care of orthopedic center patients under supervision of the nurses

Requirements

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum: 1-year related experience or graduate of or enrollment in an accredited Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or related healthcare focused program.
  • It is the expectation that the successful candidate must take and pass the Orthopedic Technologist Certification (OTC) with the National Association of Orthopedic Technologists (NAOT) within three years. Eligibility is two years of full time on the job training in Orthopedics under the direct supervision of an Orthopedic Physician or the successful completion of a currently NAOT Recognized Orthopedic Technologist School/Program, or US Military Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: 2 years’ experience with patient care in a rehabilitation setting.
