About The Position

The San Diego Unified School District is seeking professionals who care deeply for students and are committed to the communities they serve. This role involves providing assistance in the development of student functional skills, including daily living, social skills, medication compliance, and positive behavior support and intervention techniques. The target students are those diagnosed with a mental health condition or with other conditions that have behavioral/emotional components and/or severe disciplinary problems. Successful applicants will need strong writing skills for documenting student and IEP services.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of behavior modification experience with youth in a mental health setting, preferably in inpatient hospitalization, intensive day treatment, or residential treatment settings.
  • Personality and character traits suited to providing services for students with serious behavior challenges.
  • Maintain Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-ACT) certification as provided by the district.
  • Submit a completed online employment application including all required attachments, current and previous employment history and education.
  • Answer all application questions thoroughly, clearly, and concisely.
  • List contact information for all previous places of employment where served in a classified (non-certificated) position.
  • List every school district, county office of education, charter school, other educational institutions, or state special school where employed, regardless of length of service.
  • Provide the email address for each employer's Human Resources or Personnel Office.
  • List contact information for three references (current or previous supervisor).
  • Attach Verification of Education (Copy of a degree or official transcript).
  • Attach Copy of Licenses and/or Certifications.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (for specific vacancies).

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance in the development of student functional skills of daily living.
  • Provide assistance in the development of student social skills.
  • Provide assistance in the development of student medication compliance.
  • Provide assistance in the development of positive behavior support and intervention techniques for students diagnosed with a mental health condition or with other conditions with behavioral emotional/behavioral components and/or severe disciplinary problems.
  • Document student and IEP services.
