About The Position

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking a full-time faculty rehabilitation psychologist or neuropsychologist to join their growing division. The candidate will focus on neurorehabilitation with an emphasis on spinal cord injury, working within an inpatient interdisciplinary team at UPMC Mercy. Responsibilities include assessments, counseling, patient and family education, with opportunities for program development, clinical research, telemedicine, teaching, and outpatient involvement. The Division of Inpatient Rehabilitation Psychology and Neuropsychology serves adults with various complex conditions including traumatic and acquired brain injury, complex medical conditions, trauma, burn injury, spinal cord injury, and cancer. UPMC Mercy's Rehabilitation Institute is recognized for its Centers of Excellence and is a designated spinal cord injury model system, combining advanced clinical care with research and technology. The faculty member will provide neuropsychology services within the inpatient network and conduct outpatient testing for patients with neuro-rehabilitative needs.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA/CPA accredited program
  • Completed an APA/CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship
  • Completed a postdoctoral residency in Rehabilitation Psychology or Neuropsychology
  • Board certified or eligible for board certification
  • Licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania upon starting the position
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity is required for appointment in the tenure stream, including teaching and academic service, publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals, and a history of successful funding acquisition.

Nice To Haves

  • Appointment at the Associate Professor level generally requires a minimum of 5 years of experience and scholarly productivity demonstrated in research, teaching, and/or administrative leadership and service.
  • Appointment at the full Professor level generally requires a minimum of 10 years of experience and ability to demonstrate the attainment of superior stature and national/international reputation in their field of knowledge.
  • Applicant with less than 5 years of experience would be considered for appointment at the Assistant Professor Level.
