About The Position

We are seeking a Full-Time Rehabilitation Counselor to work in our Behavioral Health Services Division. The role involves providing care and supervision for assigned clients, ensuring a safe, healthy, secure, and pleasant environment that promotes growth and development. The counselor will facilitate client growth and development toward independence in self-care, daily living skills, socialization, and community living. This includes participating in the development of individual service plans and related documentation. Responsibilities include providing guidance and support, teaching and reinforcing skill development in areas such as nutrition, basic self-care, routine medical care, and follow-up as outlined in individual service plans. The role also requires reviewing and modifying individual service plans to accommodate client growth and development, and ensuring the overall safety of assigned individuals by maintaining a hazard-free environment and avoiding potentially dangerous situations. Successful completion of medication training is required, along with maintaining and monitoring medications consistent with individuals’ self-medication plans, in compliance with State and Agency medication administration regulations.

Requirements

  • A.A. degree in the social sciences or a health care-related field and one year of relevant experience in the MH/MR field; or any combination of experience, education, or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill, and ability required
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Successful completion of medication training

  • May be required to possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record (contingent upon facility location and client and program needs)
  • May require crisis intervention in emergencies
  • May be required to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather

  • Maintain and monitor medications consistent with individuals’ self-medication plans, in compliance with State and Agency medication administration regulations
