About The Position

We are seeking a Full-Time Rehabilitation Counselor to work in our Behavioral Health Services Division. The role involves providing care and supervision for assigned clients, ensuring a safe, healthy, secure, and pleasant environment that promotes growth and development. The counselor will facilitate client growth and development toward independence in self-care, daily living skills, socialization, and community living. This includes participating in the development of individual service plans and related documentation. Responsibilities include providing guidance and support, teaching and reinforcing skill development in areas such as nutrition, basic self-care, and routine medical care, and reviewing and modifying individual service plans. Ensuring the overall safety of individuals by maintaining a hazard-free environment and avoiding dangerous situations is also a key aspect of the role. Successful completion of medication training is required, including maintaining and monitoring medications in accordance with self-medication plans and state and agency regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • One year of relevant experience in the MH/MR field
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Possess manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • May be required to possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record (contingent upon facility location and client and program needs).

  • Associate's Degree preferred in the social sciences or a health care-related field

Responsibilities

  • Review and modify individual service plans to accommodate growth and development.
  • Ensure the overall safety of assigned individuals by maintaining a hazard-free environment and avoiding potentially dangerous situations.
  • Successfully complete medication training.
  • Maintain and monitor medications in accordance with individuals’ self-medication plans and in compliance with State and Agency medication administration regulations.
  • May require crisis intervention in emergencies.
  • May be required to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather.
