About The Position

Under the direction of the therapist/assistant therapist, provides assistance in administering therapy treatments to patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Successful completion of competency following a six week on the job training period in the department of rehabilitation.
  • Basic computer skills such as MS word, MS excel.
  • Must work cooperatively with others and possess good judgment, initiative and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for therapy treatment.
  • Assists in administering prescribed modality treatments such as hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, heat therapy and spinal traction.
  • Assists patients in the performance of specified exercises under the supervision of a licensed therapist.
  • Assists patient in the use of assistive devices such as crutches, cane and walker. Assist in patient mobility transfers.
  • Measures and fits patients with assistive device such as crutches and walkers, etc.
  • Maintains equipment and work area in clean and safe manner at all times.
  • May transport patients to and from Rehabilitation Services department.
  • Ensures that equipment is in proper condition for patient use, and cleans/sterilizes equipment.
  • Monitors the expiration dates of the medications, chemicals, food and alike and properly disposes the items that are expired.
  • Records daily patient register log and reconcile with the final department detail log.
  • Submit copies or recover therapy records in Medical Records as required.
  • Keeps necessary records as directed, answers phone and take messages as required.
  • Handles patient scheduling (includes rescheduling, cancellation and alike), with proper coordination from the therapist.
  • Assists the therapists in sending and receiving documents to and from the referral source.
  • Assist in collecting information such as satisfaction survey, general information, and questionnaires from the patients and clients.
  • Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job related hazards.
  • Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
