If so, the Maine DBVI Rehabilitation Counselor I may be very well suited to your interests and strengths. Elders with blindness and visual impairments and their families have unique sets of needs for which they receive support and direct service from a wide range of providers, agencies, and systems within their home and community. The role of the Rehabilitation Counselor I is identifying support needs and making service referrals to blindness professionals for individuals who are blind and visually impaired and seeking to maintain their independence at their residences and in their communities. The Rehabilitation Counselor I offers consultation, service coordination, and connection to resources to address vision related obstacles that interfere with individuals efforts to maintain their independence. The position can be based out of our Bangor, Augusta, Lewiston, or Portland office.
