About The Position

This is a full-time position in the Outpatient Rehabilitation department at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. The Rehab Aide II will be responsible for performing daily maintenance routines for various rehabilitation departments, assisting with clerical responsibilities, providing basic modality/exercise treatments, preparing patients for treatment, performing patient transportation and routine errands, performing basic gait training and exercises, and performing basic patient transfer techniques. The role requires adherence to safety techniques and precautions under the direct supervision of a therapist.

Requirements

High School Education
1 year of experience as a Rehab Aide or Rehab Technician
Good communication skills.
Competency in all Rehab Aide I duties.

Responsibilities

Performance of daily maintenance routines for various rehabilitation departments including disinfecting equipment, loading/unloading dishwasher, maintaining and refilling disinfectant, setting up and cleaning therapy rooms, and delivering/picking up equipment for special disinfecting procedures.
Performs daily sanitation of PT/OT Gym areas, mat tables, tables, and therapeutic equipment.
Notifies appropriate personnel regarding equipment malfunctioning.
Maintains general clinic tidiness.
Maintains splint area ensuring supplies are properly stored and countertops are clear, and refills water levels.
Performance of providing/assisting with clerical responsibilities as directed by supervisor/therapist.
Maintains department supplies/materials, including inventory, ordering and restocking.
Assists in submitting clinical forms to be scanned in medical records.
Copies forms, reports, records.
Addresses and fills envelopes for mailings.
Prepares packages for mailing.
Sends copy requests to Copy Center.
Faxes documents according to Hospital policy.
Sorts and distributes mail and reports to appropriate staff.
Distributes office supplies and therapy materials upon delivery.
Accepts, verifies, and puts away supplies when delivered.
Orders food for therapy services.
Performs other clerical duties as back up or as assigned.
Performance of basic modality/exercise treatments.
Delivers basic modality treatments after having been instructed and credentialed in safety techniques and precautions under the direct supervision of a therapist to include hot/cold packs, Hydra, but not to include Electrical Stimulation or advanced therapeutic techniques.
Preparation of patient for treatment to facilitate patient care.
Prepares patient for treatment after having been instructed and credentialed in safety techniques and precautions.
Assists with set up and clean up for a video swallow study, splinting, casting and group therapy under the direction of licensed therapist.
Assists patient with dressing and undressing as needed.
Performance of patient transportation and routine errands between various rehabilitation settings.
Delivers supplies and equipment to patient’s room and rehab satellite units.
Completes errands throughout hospital as assigned.
Performs transporting duties as requested, i.e., wheelchair and cart and various life support equipment meeting an assigned schedule.
Performs basic gait training with patients after the therapist has instructed the patient and aide in the proper gait technique and precautions.
Performs basic exercises with patients after the therapist has instructed the aide and patient in the proper technique and precautions.
Performance of basic patient transfer techniques to facilitate patient care.
Performs basic patient transfer techniques after having been instructed and credentialed in safety techniques and precautions.
Performs the transfer techniques, stand pivot, slide board, sit to stand, and cart transfers under the direct supervision of a therapist to aid in the delivery of patient care.
Communicates potential patient problems and abnormal patient behavior to attending therapist.
