About The Position

Villa Fairmont MHRC is a 96 bed licensed Mental Health Rehabilitation Center serving adults between the ages of 18-65. The Rehabilitation Activity Leader provides direct and indirect services to both individuals and groups of clients. This is an on-call position, looking for candidates who can work 1 or more days per week, specifically on Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The expected starting wage is $21.89 per hour, with pay commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of direct service experience in a mental health setting is required.
  • High School graduation or a G.E.D. equivalent.
  • California Drivers License (Class ‘C’)
  • Insurability.
  • Ability to communicate well.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric treatment modalities.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English is crucial.
  • Must be finger printed, sign under penalty of perjury that there has been no conviction of any crime, other than minor traffic offenses, and receive clearance from the Department of Justice.

Nice To Haves

  • Long-term care experience preferred.
  • An AA Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with severely and persistently mentally ill adults is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe, effective and efficient implementation of direct care in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care.
  • Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with clients and acts as a role model in maintaining a hopeful and positive attitude in problem-solving and coping with the disabilities associated with mental illness.
  • Leads/co-leads therapeutic activity groups.
  • Attends shift report and assists in providing unit supervision as needed.
  • Maintains the inventory and orders equipment and supplies for activity programs, as directed.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of the Activity Rooms.
  • Drives clients in the facility van on outings.
  • Promotes and assists clients in developing self-help skills.
  • Completes incident reports and forwards to Executive Administrator in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Notifying appropriate agencies of any known or observed incidents of client abuse.
  • Observes, records and reports client social and psychiatric behavior.
  • Completes and follows through with tasks and assignments, meeting expected deadlines.
  • Coordinate groups and special events as directed.
