About The Position

The Rehab & Academy S&C Manager is responsible for leading the physical preparation of players progressing through the rehabilitation process while providing leadership, technical direction, and support for Strength & Conditioning operations within the Marlins Jupiter Academy. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise and leadership ability. The manager will work closely with Medical, Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition, and field staff to develop and execute individualized rehabilitation plans that prepare players for the physical demands of baseball. Within the Jupiter Academy, the manager will oversee S&C operations across Spring Training, camps, and the Florida Complex League and Jupiter Hammerheads seasons, while establishing high standards for coaching, programming, training environments, and staff development. The ideal candidate can operate effectively in both highly individualized rehabilitation settings and larger team training environments. They should be able to translate performance data and technical information into practical training decisions, communicate clearly across disciplines, and develop coaches while maintaining accountability to organizational standards.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength & Conditioning, Sports Science, or related field required
CSCS certification required
Significant experience working as a Strength & Conditioning Coach in collegiate or professional sport
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing rehabilitation and return-to-performance programs.
Strong understanding of strength and power development, speed development, conditioning, workload management, and periodization.
Ability to interpret performance testing and monitoring data and translate findings into practical training decisions.
Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or developing other coaches.
Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree or higher preferred
Professional baseball experience preferred
Experience working with athlete-management systems, force plates, GPS, and other performance technologies preferred
Spanish proficiency preferred

Responsibilities

Lead the physical preparation component of the rehabilitation process for assigned players from early-stage loading through return to full baseball participation.
Collaborate closely with Medical and Performance staff to establish objective rehabilitation plans, progressions, and return-to-performance criteria.
Design and coach individualized strength, power, speed, and energy-system development programs based on injury considerations, player needs, and baseball demands.
Integrate objective performance data into rehabilitation decision-making and progression.
Identify physical qualities that may have contributed to injury risk or been negatively affected during time loss and develop plans to address them.
Ensure the transition from rehabilitation to team training is deliberate and prepares the athlete for the demands they will encounter when returning to competition.
Communicate player status, progress, limitations, and next steps clearly to relevant stakeholders.
Provide leadership and technical oversight for Strength & Conditioning operations within the organization’s Academy environments.
Support Academy S&C coaches in program design, implementation, and problem-solving.
Help establish consistent standards for coaching quality, training environments, testing, monitoring, and player development while allowing coaches appropriate autonomy.
Develop Academy S&C staff through regular feedback, observation, education, and mentorship.
Help coaches create organized, competitive, high-energy training environments that reinforce organizational standards.
Assist with onboarding and development of new S&C staff, fellows, and interns.
Serve as a connection between Academy S&C staff and department leadership, helping information and organizational priorities move effectively in both directions.
