About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining product, ingredient, raw material, and finished goods specifications in company systems. It involves collaborating with Supply Chain and cross-functional teams to manage approvals, change management, and the commercialization process. The specialist will also partner with RDQ on secondary supplier approvals, develop ingredient specifications, and serve as a point of contact for customer inquiries regarding finished product specifications. Additionally, the role involves developing draft specifications for sales and marketing, managing customer portals, and ensuring regulatory compliance for marketing materials, packaging, and labeling. A key aspect of the role is monitoring FDA regulations and revising product labels and Nutrition Facts Panels.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a closely related discipline, such as Nutrition, Chemistry, or Toxicology.
  • 0–2 years of regulatory experience, including experience with food or beverage regulated products.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Skilled collaborator with experience working effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet agreed timelines, and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and planning skills with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain product, ingredient, raw material, and finished goods specifications in company systems, including product lifecycle management and change management updates.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to assess ingredient specifications, assign risk categories, and manage approvals and change management in company systems.
  • Complete finished product specifications in partnership with cross-functional teams throughout the commercialization process.
  • Partner with RDQ on secondary supplier ingredient approvals through ingredient specification verification and secure sub-ingredient specifications as needed.
  • Develop ingredient specifications in the company software system.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customer inquiries related to finished product specifications.
  • Develop draft specifications to support the sales and marketing process.
  • Manage customer portals related to the creation and maintenance of customer specifications.
  • Request and upload ingredient specifications to maintain accurate and current records in company systems.
  • Administer and oversee the regulatory approval process for marketing materials, advertising materials, and packaging to ensure claims, labeling, product usage, nutrition information, and health claims are accurate and compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Review and revise product labels for regulatory compliance.
  • Review Nutrition Facts Panels for new product launches and product lifecycle management updates.
  • Monitor and track current FDA regulations and warning letters related to food labeling, nutrition, claims, and food safety.
  • Comply with all company rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
