About The Position

We are currently looking for a Regulatory Specialist to join our Corporate Regulatory Affairs Team in a Permanent position. Key elements of this role include: You will be responsible for various ongoing regulatory matters and stakeholder engagement. You will be responsible for working with cross-functional teams within the Company to resolve issues related to the files in your portfolio, particularly in the area of the Fuel Adjustment Mechanism. You will be responsible for managing, preparing, and reviewing reports, developing internal processes, management of periodic audits and internal education sessions, attendance at formal audit interviews and meetings, organizing internal groups to meet compliance obligations and monitoring and completion of directives from the provincial regulator. This position works closely with the Fuels Group on the Fuel Adjustment Mechanism Audit and is responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual filings and related processes. You are expected to be or become knowledgeable about the subject matter which you are working on, and able to distill the complex, technical nature of the issues into understandable themes in order to aid in the resolution of issues that may arise. You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, accounting, or engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a business, audit, legal or regulatory environment.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and advanced writing skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and familiarize yourself with NS Power’s operations and business units as they relate to the files you are working on.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships within the utility.
  • Ability to work effectively and manage groups.
  • Knowledge of general business principles.
