About The Position

The Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA) serves the public by licensing qualified health care providers, enforcing standards among licensees and facilities, and informing licensees and the public on matters related to providing safe health care to Floridians. The Bureau of Health Care Practitioner Regulation is specifically responsible for the policy making and programmatic activities related to licensure of health care practitioners and regulated facilities in the state of Florida. The Florida Board of Nursing is the largest of seven offices in the Bureau. The employee in this position reports to and assists the Regulatory Supervisor. This position is a professional position in which the employee functions independently, and as a team member, to process, evaluate and determine eligibility for licensure applications.

Requirements

  • Must be physically present in the office to effectively perform job duties and responsibilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to compile, organize and analyze data.
  • Ability to investigate, analyze, and resolve complaints.
  • Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes, rules, policies and procedures for licensing and regulation of professionals and consumer protection.
  • Ability to provide consultative assistance to others.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • All Florida Department of Health positions require the incumbent to be able to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates all documents uploaded to Axiom Pro using the online application system. These documents will be evaluated to determine if they complete or require updating of previously reviewed applications. These applications encompass all application types reviewed by the Board of Nursing staff and may include more complex applications containing health, criminal and/or discipline history.
  • Processes Registered Nurse examination applications.
  • Serves as the main processor for military veteran applications. Evaluates applications for nursing licensure by endorsement, examination or re-examination to determine eligibility. Approves requests for licensure or examination and notifies applicants.
  • Serves as the primary processor for the Livescan reports received daily; requires posting of reports and ensuring that established timeframes for review are met.
  • Serves as assistant trainer for all Regulatory Specialist II processors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by managerial staff.
