About The Position

The Regulatory Specialist supports regulatory compliance across the School Lunch Program, products, ingredients, labeling, packaging, supplier documentation, data management, and commercialization. The role maintains regulatory information, monitors requirements and developments, and partners with FSQA leadership and cross-functional teams to inform decisions and escalate significant or high-risk matters to FSQA leadership and Legal. This role serves as a subject matter expert for regulatory compliance and documentation.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in food safety, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, food science, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field
  • Experience interpreting federal, state, and local food regulations and maintaining compliance documentation
  • Experience supporting cross-functional food safety, regulatory, commercialization, or supplier compliance initiatives
  • Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment and adapt to new situations as they arise
  • Ability to effectively communicate, inform, and influence senior leaders and external partners
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively on multiple initiatives with a successful record of advancing projects
  • Process improvement mindset with a focus on continuous optimization and growth opportunities

  • Experience reviewing product formulations, ingredients, nutrition information, labels, packaging, or supplier documentation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary regulatory support resource for the Papa John’s School Lunch Program.
  • Research and maintain applicable federal, state and program specific requirements affecting school meal products and program.
  • Support review of product formulations, ingredient information, nutritional information, specifications, documentation, and labeling associated.
  • Maintain required regulatory and program documentation and identifying gaps requiring corrective action or escalation.
  • Partner with FSQA leadership, operations, supply chain, procurement, R&D to support continued compliance with program requirements.
  • Research federal, state and local food regulatory requirements applicable to assigned products, ingredients, projects, and operations.
  • Support regulatory assessments for suppliers, ingredients, reformulations, process changes, packaging modifications, and commercialization initiatives.
  • Identify and communicate regulatory requirements associated with changes to ingredients, suppliers, formulations, processes, and finished products.
  • Maintain regulatory documentation and supporting rationale for key regulatory decisions.
  • Regulatory review of labels, packaging, claims, allergen statements, nutrition information, and required regulatory statements.
  • Partner with R&D, Marketing, Procurement, Packaging, and suppliers to ensure labeling and packaging changes meet applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain documentation supporting regulatory decisions and labeling determinations.
  • Maintain and validate regulatory information within company systems.
  • Manage updates associated with new products, reformulations, supplier changes, and packaging changes.
  • Partner with FSQA Leadership, Sr. Product Quality Managers, IT, Supply Chain, Procurement, and R&D.
