The Regulatory & Environmental Specialist will be the bridge between operational excellence and environmental responsibility. Their expertise will ensure that every activity meets or exceeds regulatory requirements, minimizes environmental impact, and supports NGL's long-term sustainability goals. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of EPA, BLM, and state-level oil and gas regulations, permitting processes, environmental impact assessments, and remediation planning in CO, TX, NM.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of EPA, BLM, and state-level oil and gas regulations in CO, NM, & TX.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with regulators, community members, and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable operational guidance.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for environmental protection and operational safety.
  • Must be able to work on sensitive issues with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain stability under pressure and be flexible and willing to modify plans and behavior when necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a positive representative of the Company both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance or regulatory affairs within the oil and gas industry is required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Must work safely at all times.
  • Lead environmental compliance efforts for exploration, drilling, pipeline, and field operations, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare, submit, and track permits for drilling, air quality, water use, waste management, and land restoration.
  • Prepare and submit monthly/yearly reporting requirement for CO, NM, and TX. H-10, P-18, H-5, TexNet, C-115, C-103, Form 7, Form 17, Form 27 Emissions inventory, APEN, GWMR, TENORM, Interim Reclamation, EPCRA, SARA, Title III, Teir II, SPCC
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for new and ongoing projects.
  • Monitor field operations to ensure compliance with environmental management plans and spill prevention protocols.
  • Collaborate with engineers and operations teams to integrate environmental best practices into project design and execution.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving oil and gas regulations, advising leadership on potential operational impacts.
  • Lead incident investigations related to environmental events and develop corrective action plans.
  • Build relationships with regulatory agencies, community stakeholders, and environmental consultants to foster transparency and trust.
