The Regulatory and Compliance Engineer (RCE) Senior position within the Stormwater, Dam Safety, and Flood Management Program of the Water and Science Administration is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of Maryland’s stormwater management and erosion and sediment control programs and serves as a subject matter expert. The incumbent will utilize advanced proficiency in design principles and construction standards to ensure effective implementation of urban runoff control practices, evaluate statewide design standards, guidelines, and regulations, and develop recommendations for improvement. Daily work requires knowledge of relevant laws and regulations under the Environment Article, the Code of Maryland Regulations, the Clean Water Act, and the Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to stormwater, erosion, sediment control, and municipal separate storm sewer system permits. Responsibilities include performing field inspections, providing technical assistance to stakeholders, and developing reports for compliance and enforcement of runoff control laws and regulations. This oversight directly supports Maryland’s goals of protecting and restoring Maryland's streams, rivers, and Chesapeake Bay.
