About The Position

Purpose of Position To provide support to the organization in maintaining compliance and addressing needs related to new and existing business as they pertain to regulatory matters.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the Canadian chemical regulatory landscape through education or experience is required
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, and confidence with giving oral presentations are critical to this role

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education with a degree in chemistry or any related discipline would be an asset
  • Experience in the chemical industry (or a related industry) also considered an asset
  • French skills being an asset

Responsibilities

  • Manage risk considering legal compliance requirements, industry best practices, management system requirements, and the Responsible Distribution Canada’s Responsible Distribution® Code of Practice
  • Support compliance with Canadian chemical control and environmental regulation that govern company activities, including but not limited to CEPA 1999, the Hazardous Products Act, the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, and the regulations made out under these Acts
  • Support the maintenance of the legal register for all legislation relevant to company activities and responsibilities and ensure that changes is legislation are captured
  • Develop, document, and monitor processes related to corporate compliance, and ensure that the appropriate related documentation is properly controlled
  • Facilitate training and guidance of stakeholders both inside and outside of the Regulatory Affairs department with respect to regulatory requirements and related company processes and procedures
  • Facilitate responses to customer inquiries pertaining to regulatory matters, coordinating with other groups in QSHE/Regulatory team as required
  • Act as a member of the Regulatory Affairs team to achieve departmental goals including group safety goals
  • Support commercial activities as required by the business
