Why This Role Matters The Regulatory Affairs Manager serves as the company's regulatory expert and trusted business partner, ensuring that products, ingredients, packaging, and labeling comply with all applicable regulatory requirements while supporting the successful launch of new products. Reporting directly to the Director of Quality Assurance/Quality Control, this role collaborates with Research & Development, Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Quality teams to balance innovation with compliance and maintain the highest standards of food safety and quality. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in food manufacturing, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing food labels, nutrition facts panels, ingredient statements, and regulatory documentation.
  • Previous leadership experience supervising, mentoring, or developing technical or regulatory professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations, HACCP principles, GMPs, SOPs, and SQF requirements.
  • Experience reviewing and approving food labels, packaging artwork, and regulated marketing claims.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using nutrition analysis software, compliance systems, and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience collaborating across multiple departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to make sound, independent regulatory decisions.

  • HACCP for Processors and Manufacturers Certification.
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) Certification.

  • Experience working directly with senior leadership teams and customer-specific regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage regulatory compliance programs for existing products and new product development initiatives.
  • Review and approve nutrition facts panels, ingredient statements, allergen declarations, and product labels to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Oversee the development and approval of packaging artwork and regulated marketing claims, including Organic, Non-GMO, and Gluten-Free designations.
  • Monitor evolving food regulations and communicate their impact to internal stakeholders.
  • Evaluate ingredients, formulations, and finished products to ensure regulatory compliance and commercialization readiness.
  • Supervise and mentor regulatory support staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Manage product setup and maintenance across customer, distributor, and internal systems.
  • Maintain regulatory records, certifications, specifications, approvals, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate regulatory activities among Purchasing, R&D, Quality, Operations, suppliers, and customers.
  • Verify ingredient and nutrition databases through supplier audits and Approved Supplier Program reviews.
  • Conduct audits of ingredient statements, allergen declarations, and regulatory documentation.
  • Determine HACCP categorization requirements based on ingredients and manufacturing processes.
  • Support qualification and verification of Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, and other ingredient claims.
  • Participate in internal, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Support Quality Assurance and Quality Control initiatives as needed.
  • Serve as a cross-functional resource on regulatory and compliance matters.
