About The Position

Within Capital One, the Regulatory Affairs function is responsible for managing all interactions with Federal Banking Regulators. We provide key advisory consulting to senior management with respect to supervision and evolving regulatory issues, while also supporting policy development and risk management thought leadership. We are seeking a Director to play a significant role in ensuring Capital One proactively responds to the changing regulatory environment and delivers on commitments to regulators in a timely manner. This role involves significant engagement with senior leaders and regulators, and provides the opportunity for growth in the regulatory affairs and risk management organizations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in banking, financial services, risk management, audit, consulting, regulatory agencies, or a combination

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience in banking, financial services, risk management, audit, consulting, regulatory agencies, or a combination.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting integrated projects or programs where senior leaders and external stakeholders are your customers.
  • 5+ years of experience working with banking regulators and regulatory policy.
  • 5+ years of experience with consumer credit products and associated regulatory frameworks and risk management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and foster productive relationships and interactions between consumer credit business functions and Federal Regulatory supervisory staff.
  • Provide thought leadership and strategic advisory services to senior management and other stakeholders regarding the regulatory environment and supervisory matters.
  • Synthesize trends within the external landscape and local regulatory engagements and drive internal awareness of focus areas and potential sensitivities to minimize regulatory risk and ensure the company is exceeding expectations set forth by law, regulation, and agency guidance
  • Lead preparation activities and oversee execution of on-site engagements such as exams (e.g., logistics management, fulfillment of supervisory requests, and driving issue resolution).
  • Identify potential risk areas and advise on corrective actions, ensuring they are monitored and on-track for timely and effective mitigation.
  • Lead or support policy advocacy activities with respect to banking and regulatory-related matters in partnership with other stakeholders, including Lines of Business, Legal, and Global Enterprise Affairs.
