About The Position
Under the direction of Management the Regulated Waste Specialist is responsible for the daily movement and proper disposal of the waste streams throughout the hospital.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
Nice To Haves
- 1 year Prior housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of regulations, policies, procedures and accreditation standards
- Hazmat and Waste Ground Shipper Certification - DOT
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates positive customer service behaviors consistently.
- Strives to meet/exceed the needs of the facility's customers/patients by demonstrating flexibility and sense of urgency to create a service excellence experience.
- Conducts inspections in area of responsibility daily ensuring assigned tasks are completed and quality/infection control measures are met consistently with appropriate documentation forwarded to department leadership.
- Collects municipal, recycling, sharps, RCRA and Regulated Medical Waste throughout the facility and ensures proper packing and labeling requirements are met.
- Signs manifests and shipping papers in accordance with state DOT guidelines.
- Maintains a safe patient care environment by consistently complying with RHS, DNV, State and regulatory standards to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
- Follows guidelines for proper body mechanics, hazardous materials handling and universal precautions to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Maintains a safe work area.
