Registry Services Engineer

MinuteBoxVaughan, ON
CA$105,000 - CA$115,000

About The Position

MinuteBox is a cloud-based platform used by law firms, large companies, and accounting firms for entity management, corporate governance, minute book storage and workflow automation. Its innovative suite of products are used by some of Canada's largest legal departments and global professional services organizations. The team has created the most powerful, accessible and secure legal technology available and the company is growing quickly as they continue to expand their footprint across North America. You will play a pivotal role in the customer journey as a Registry Services Engineer. In this role, you will own the technical backbone of our searches & filings product — the integrations, data flows, and automations that connect MinuteBox to government corporate registries and third-party data providers across North America. You will work hands-on with APIs, JSON payloads, and structured data to build and maintain the pipelines that power one of the most-used parts of our platform. You will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support to ensure your success in this role. Reporting to our Engineering leadership, you will work alongside the Engineering, Product, and Customer Success teams to design, build, and improve the systems that move regulatory data into and out of MinuteBox on behalf of our customers.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of how APIs work — including REST principles, authentication patterns (API keys, OAuth, tokens), request/response cycles, error handling, and how APIs are integrated and consumed in production systems.
  • Strong proficiency working with JSON — reading, writing, parsing, transforming, and debugging JSON data structures, including nested and complex payloads.
  • Comfort reading API documentation and translating specifications into working integrations.
  • Experience with at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., JavaScript/Node.js, Python, TypeScript) is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with tools like Postman, Insomnia, or similar for testing and inspecting API calls.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently.
  • High attention to detail — registry data is unforgiving of small errors, and accuracy directly impacts our customers' compliance.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work as a team to deliver meaningful results, and to prioritize group needs over individual needs.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills with the ability to juggle demands and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload in an evolving environment; organizational skills are an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel, and Google Suite.
  • Highly self-motivated and comfortable operating in a fast-growing, rapidly changing and dynamic organization with a self-governing, roll-up-your-sleeves culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Golang and Bigquery an asset but not required.
  • An understanding of corporate searches & filings (e.g., corporate registries, annual returns, incorporations, name searches, lien/PPSA searches) is not required, but is a strong asset. We will train the right person on the legal and regulatory side.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and improve integrations between MinuteBox and government corporate registries, jurisdictional filing portals, and third-party data providers across Canada and the United States.
  • Work with REST APIs daily — making requests, parsing JSON responses, mapping data into MinuteBox's internal schemas, and handling edge cases gracefully.
  • Design and implement reliable data pipelines for searches (corporate profile reports, name searches, lien searches) and filings (annual returns, amendments, incorporations).
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with registry integrations, including authentication failures, schema changes from upstream providers, malformed payloads, and timeouts.
  • Collaborate with the Product and Customer Success teams to scope new jurisdictions, registry sources, and filing types based on customer demand.
  • Translate registry-specific quirks and undocumented behaviours into clean, well-tested code and clear internal documentation.
  • Monitor the health of registry integrations and proactively flag and resolve degradations before they impact customers.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our searches & filings infrastructure — performance, reliability, observability, and developer ergonomics.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and team rituals.
  • Ensure all integrations and data handling comply with company security and compliance policies.
  • Provide regular updates on progress, blockers, and upcoming work to engineering leadership.

Benefits

  • flexible vacation policy
  • competitive vision, dental, and health benefits
  • team lunches, and socials (yes, even remotely!)
