This is a part-time Registry Pharmacy Technician I position at Advocate South Suburban Hospital, within the Pharmacy Department. The role involves assisting licensed pharmacists with technical duties related to medication preparation and distribution, including handling hazardous drugs and controlled substances. Responsibilities also include medication distribution tasks, screening phone calls, daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking. The technician will complete documentation for controlled substances, perform nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture following USP standards, inspect medication storage areas, and document medication admission histories. The role may involve training other technicians, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and supporting leaders. Additional duties include patient demographic information gathering, data entry, insurance verification, label generation, cashiering, and potentially third-party billing functions. The technician must demonstrate age-appropriate patient care knowledge and skills. There is a possibility of obtaining immunization certification and administering immunizations under pharmacist supervision. The role may also require operating an Advocate Health-owned vehicle for medication and supply delivery.
