Performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties to manage patient registration and patient financial obligation. This role involves obtaining demographic, billing, and insurance information from patients, entering it into registration/billing systems, scanning necessary documents, and providing patients with information regarding insurance, payments, and hospital procedures. The specialist may also handle managed care responsibilities like pre-certification and authorizations, prepare standard consent forms, collect payments, prepare patient armbands, balance daily receipts, follow up on accounts, initiate screenings, perform medical necessity checks, and schedule/reschedule/cancel patient appointments.
