The specialist also provides patients with information regarding insurance, payments, and hospital procedures, and may handle managed care responsibilities such as pre-certification and authorizations. Additionally, the role includes preparing and obtaining signatures for consent forms, collecting payments, preparing patient armbands, balancing daily receipts, and scheduling or rescheduling patient appointments. The position requires performing medical necessity checks, validating orders, and utilizing applicable computer software and equipment.
