About The Position

The purpose of this position is to verify insurance coverage of all patients, register patients and obtain pre-authorizations as required for surgery prior to the date of scheduled procedures. This position will also require review of all financial obligations with patients and/or family member.

Requirements

High School Diploma
3-4 years experience working in a medical facility or physician business office
Prior experience verifying medical insurance benefits
Fluent in English

Responsibilities

Verifies insurance coverage as to deductibles, coinsurance and co-pay required for all patients on surgery schedule.
Reviews and explains the financial responsibility to the patients.
Verifies via internet or telephone methods as appropriate to insurance plans.
Contacts physicians office and/or patient for clarification if needed.
Provides procedure estimates to patients and registers patients.
Assists with collections in admitting when patients present for procedures.
Assists with medical records.
Assists with credentialing files and updates expiration dates.
