About The Position
The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a passion for shelter medicine to assist in shelter animal care. The Ontario SPCA operates two spay/neuter clinics, a wellness clinic, SPCA Mobile Animal Wellness Services unit, and hosts MASH-style clinics to bring routine care and spay/neuter services to underserved communities. They also find loving homes for thousands of animals each year at their animal centers across the province. This position is suitable for those who love to work in a fast-paced and structured environment.
Requirements
- Validation of being a Registered Veterinary Technician
- 1-4 years of experience as a registered veterinary technician, preferably within a high-volume animal clinic
- Passion for shelter medicine
- Available to work weekdays
- Valid G drivers’ license with the ability to provide a clear driver’s abstract
Nice To Haves
- 2-3 years of surgical experience preferred
- Administrative experience an asset
Responsibilities
- Welcoming clients and their pets
- Providing exceptional care for our animals during their stay
- Monitor the physical health and behavioural needs of each animal in our care
- Coaching and training shelter staff on Shelter Health and Wellness concepts and protocols
- Liaises with the VCPR (Veterinary Client Patient Relationship) to provide open communication and a medical relationship with the Centre.
- Assist the Animal Centre Manager with animal care related decision making
- General administrative duties includes booking appointments
- General house-keeping duties
- Participation in Mobile SN & Wellness Clinics as needed.
