About The Position

Front Range Veterinary Clinic, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join their team. Requirements

  • Successfully passed the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Examination).
  • Graduate from an AVMA accredited Animal Science program with an AS or BS.
  • Knowledge of advanced fluid therapy, anesthetic monitoring, advanced CPR, and all aspects of laboratory and surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge of advanced pharmacology and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to new situations.
  • Ability to act as a team player.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced medical, diagnostic, and laboratory procedures under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.
  • Triage patients and determine their stability.
  • Perform physical assessments and record observations.
  • Assist veterinarians in all aspects of surgical procedures, including pre-medication, setup, induction, preparation, anesthesia maintenance, surgical monitoring, assisting, recovery, post-operative orders, and pain management.
  • Perform blood collection via all routes, selecting the best method based on patient needs or specific tests.
  • Prepare fluid therapy, including infusion pump/syringe pump setup, appropriate IVF setup, fluid types and rates, and CRI calculations.
  • Assist with dosage calculations and dispensing of medication, including controlled substances, and perform advanced emergency drug calculations, dosing, and administration protocols.
  • Monitor daily activities of in-hospital patients, both stable and those requiring advanced monitoring.
  • Communicate patient status with doctors, technicians, office staff, and clients.
  • Prepare patients for discharge, including client education on home care and medication.
  • Follow established hospital policies and procedures when handling client concerns and complaints.
  • Document accurately and maintain medical records according to hospital standards.
  • Ensure a clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
