About The Position

Village Veterinary Hospital in Bosque Farms, New Mexico, is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join their team. This is a long-standing, busy mixed animal hospital with strong community ties and a loyal clientele, treating both small animals (60%) and large animals (40%), as well as emergencies. The clinic offers a full range of veterinary medical treatments including preventive medicine, dental cleanings, in-house laboratory services, pharmacy, digital x-rays, digital ultrasound, house calls, and emergency surgical care. The hospital is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30 am – 5:30 pm, and Thursday and Saturday 1/2 days 8:30 am – 12 pm, closed on Sunday and major holidays. Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in New Mexico, or eligible to transfer/acquire state license within 3 months of hire
  • 3 + years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary technician or assistant
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Passion for working with large and small animals, and their owners
  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species
  • Ability to perform nursing care in a hospital or ranch setting
  • Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
  • Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing care in a hospital or ranch setting
  • Dental procedure experience, scaling, polishing, extractions, suturing
  • Skilled in IV Catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, applying casts, bandages and splints
  • Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience including intubation, monitoring, pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Laboratory skills including cytology set-up and interpretation
  • Diagnostic experience including digital radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis
  • All other duties of a Registered Veterinary Technician as allowable by law
