About The Position

Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our experienced team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We’re a busy three-doctor practice providing wellness care, surgery, and dentistry for small animals and exotic pets. Our hospital is equipped with digital radiology, dental radiology, laser surgery, and in-house laboratory equipment, giving our team the tools to provide a high standard of care. Enjoy a predictable schedule with no holiday shifts, work rotating Saturdays (approximately one Saturday every four weeks), and maintain a healthy work-life balance that prioritizes your personal time. Requirements

  • Current credential as a Registered Veterinary Technician, Certified Veterinary Technician, or Licensed Veterinary Technician
  • Comfort working in a busy clinical environment
  • Knowledge of preventative care and vaccines
  • Strong technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and laboratory procedures
  • Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, induction, and recovery
  • A strong understanding of pharmacology and medication administration
  • A positive attitude, reliability, and passion for veterinary medicine
  • A team-first mindset and willingness to jump in and help when needed
  • Strong communication and client education skills
  • A commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate patient care

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and team members in exam rooms, surgeries, and treatments
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Educate clients about their pets’ care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventative care
  • Perform in-house laboratory testing, including CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, and cytology
  • Accurately document patient care and treatments in medical records
  • Monitor and care for surgical and hospitalized patients
  • Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • Support anesthesia induction, monitoring, and patient recovery
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to provide exceptional patient care
