About The Position

Animal Samaritans is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with strong dental experience to join our veterinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for an RVT who enjoys performing high-quality dental procedures while working in a collaborative, non-corporate, mission-driven environment dedicated to helping pets and the people who love them. The Registered Veterinary Technician – Dental Specialist performs a wide range of technical and patient care duties with an emphasis on veterinary dentistry and anesthetic procedures. The ideal candidate is highly skilled, detail-oriented, compassionate, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Requirements

  • Current California RVT license (or eligible for certification)
  • Ability to lift and carry 40+ pounds and stand for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience preferred
  • Strong veterinary dental experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge of anesthetic monitoring and dental radiography
  • Strong communication, organizational, and client service skills
  • Compassionate, energetic, and team-oriented attitude
  • Willingness to continue learning and pursuing continuing education opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Perform dental prophylaxis and assist with advanced dental procedures
  • Take and interpret dental radiographs
  • Monitor anesthesia during dental and surgical procedures
  • Assist veterinarians with dental extractions and oral surgery procedures
  • Perform patient preparation, recovery, and hospitalized patient care
  • Collect and process laboratory samples
  • Provide exceptional client communication and education
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Assist in exam rooms and support daily hospital operations
  • Demonstrate proper animal handling and restraint techniques
  • Induce anesthesia
  • Perform dental extractions
  • Suture gingiva and oral mucous membranes
  • Administer controlled substances
  • Apply casts and splints
  • Perform additional animal healthcare tasks consistent with California veterinary regulations and standards of veterinary medical practice
