About The Position

Burlingame Family Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) for a weekend-only position, with shifts available Saturday and/or Sunday. The hospital is currently operating out of a partner location in Redwood City, with plans to move to a temporary location in San Carlos. Weekend team members will initially work at the Redwood City location and are expected to transition to the new location once secured. The ideal candidate is versatile, client-focused, and thrives in a dynamic general practice environment, balancing exam room care, client communication, and procedural support. Credentialed technicians are valued for their clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills, which help elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care. In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
  • Active and good-standing Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California
  • Proficiency in patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring
  • Proficiency in anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Proficiency in surgical assistance and aseptic technique
  • Proficiency in dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
  • Proficiency in radiology positioning and safety protocols
  • Proficiency in medication administration and accurate drug calculations
  • Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Assisting with surgical procedures, including patient preparation, positioning, surgical support, and post-operative care
  • Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
  • Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
  • Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
