About The Position

Animal Emergency Clinic of Fraser Valley (AECFV) is seeking a Locum Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join their collaborative team delivering emergency and critical care to small animal patients. AECFV has been providing emergency and critical care since 1996 and is an AAHA-accredited animal hospital. The facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year, and is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment tools, including one of the largest blood banks in Canada. AECFV is partnered with Ethos Veterinary Health, a network of over 140 specialty and emergency hospitals across North America, offering big-organization support while maintaining a family-founded culture.

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technologist, or a recent graduate preparing to write the Veterinary Technician National Examination
  • Passionate about emergency and critical care medicine for small animals

  • Physically able to meet the demands of the role: standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and lifting

Responsibilities

  • Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
  • Assist the veterinarian before, during, and after surgery
  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under veterinarian direction
  • Provide nursing care and monitoring for emergency and critical care patients
  • Perform ongoing triage assessment and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Produce diagnostic radiographs, collect samples, and perform laboratory tests
  • Provide wound and bandage care
  • Counsel clients on animal health care
  • Help mentor visiting practicum students and peers
