About The Position

As a member of the Surgery team, not only will you work directly with an Anesthesiologist, but you will also play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and the well-being of our patients. At SAGE Dublin, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, you'll specialize in many areas of veterinary medicine using the most current knowledge and treatments available, backed by state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and surgical tools. In addition to a robust Surgery service, the hospital also offers Emergency, Critical Care, Oncology, Anesthesiology, and Internal Medicine. Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • 2+ years of surgery veterinary experience
  • CA-RVT required
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
  • Consistent and reliable ability to monitor anesthesia, perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
  • Proficient in anesthesia administration and monitoring
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-surgical examinations and obtain medical histories
  • Administer pre-anesthetic medications and monitor patient responses
  • Place and manage IV catheters for fluid therapy and medication administration
  • Set up surgical instruments and equipment
  • Surgical assisting
  • Record all data accurately for the medical record
  • Adjust anesthesia levels and administer additional medications as needed
  • Provide postoperative care, including pain management and wound care
  • Ensure the surgical suite is disinfected and ready for the next procedure
  • Review postoperative care instructions to pet owners and provide updates on the patient's condition
  • Accurately document all aspects of the surgical procedure, including anesthesia records, patient monitoring data, and postoperative care
  • Ensure the surgical area complies with veterinary medical standards and guidelines
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture
