About The Position

Veterinary Specialty Hospital North County is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Ophthalmology team. This role involves providing exceptional care to patients with a wide range of eye conditions and surgical needs, working alongside a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist. The technician will play a vital role in helping preserve and restore vision while supporting patients and their families through every step of their treatment journey. Ophthalmology combines precision, advanced diagnostics, surgery, and patient advocacy in a uniquely rewarding specialty. Opportunities include treating corneal ulcers and glaucoma, assisting with cataract surgeries, and managing emergency eye conditions, significantly impacting a patient's comfort, vision, and quality of life. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong client relationships, mastering technical skills, and working closely with a specialist.

Requirements

  • Active California RVT license
  • Minimum two years of veterinary experience
  • Strong anesthesia knowledge and hands-on anesthesia experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of anesthetic monitoring
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Performing venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • Calculating and administering medications, fluids, and CRIs
  • Monitoring anesthesia for a variety of diagnostic and surgical procedures
  • Preparing patients for procedures and assisting with recovery
  • Performing sterile surgical preparation
  • Assisting the Ophthalmologist during appointments and surgical procedures
  • Providing client education and guidance throughout the treatment process
  • Advocating for patient comfort, safety, and exceptional nursing care
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Collaborating with doctors and team members to ensure the highest standard of patient care
