About The Position

Partner Veterinary is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician - Anesthesia to join their Emergency and Specialty hospital team in Frederick, MD. This role is for an RVT focused on anesthesia, primarily for neurology procedures such as MRIs, surgeries, and CSF taps. The technician will work with a diverse patient population and collaborate with specialists to create drug protocols and anesthetic plans. The position offers a supportive environment with advanced equipment and a psychologically safe workplace, with mentorship available from a VTS in anesthesia and analgesia. The role also involves supporting the training of safe anesthesia practices for peers.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year veterinary technician experience.
  • Graduate of accredited veterinary technology program.
  • Veterinary technician "in good standing" so applicant is or eligible to transfer registration to Maryland.
  • Knowledge and dedication to high standard anesthesia and patient care practices.
  • A curious and motivated energy.
  • Interest in collaborating with the teams across the Partner network.
  • Ability to quickly process, analyze, and react to unplanned and emergent medical situations without delay, so as to ensure the safety of team members and patients.
  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours with limited breaks.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs without assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Veterinary ER or Urgent Care experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with specialists to create drug protocols and anesthetic plans.
  • Work with a diverse patient population utilizing advanced skills.
  • Provide anesthesia support for neurology procedures (MRIs, surgeries, CSF taps).
  • Potentially be involved in inpatient care for neurologic patients or anesthesia procedures in other departments (primary ER).
  • Support the training of safe anesthesia practices for peers.
  • Utilize advanced equipment to promote a safe/stress-free environment.
  • Participate in case report reviews and topic rounds.
  • Engage in hands-on training and workshops.
  • Complete role-specific training.
  • Participate in RECOVER certification programs.
  • Receive one-on-one mentoring from seasoned RVTs and VTS.
