About The Position

SAGE Veterinary Centers – Redwood City is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Neurology & Anesthesia team. As one of the Bay Area's premier specialty and emergency veterinary hospitals, SAGE Redwood City provides advanced neurology, diagnostic imaging, and specialty care using cutting-edge technology in a collaborative, patient-focused environment. This role is ideal for an experienced RVT with a passion for anesthesia, advanced diagnostics, and exceptional patient care. You'll work alongside board-certified neurologists while playing a critical role in safely anesthetizing and monitoring patients undergoing MRI and other specialized procedures.

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.
  • Five or more years of anesthesia monitoring experience; MRI experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of anesthetic medications, patient monitoring, and anesthesia safety protocols.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple hospital departments.
  • Commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care.
  • Ability to safely work in an MRI environment. Candidates with certain metallic implants, pacemakers, or other MRI-incompatible devices may not meet the safety requirements for this position.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and maintain focus during lengthy procedures.
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail for anesthesia monitoring and patient care.

  • MRI experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-anesthetic assessments, IV catheter placement, induction, intubation, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery.
  • Monitor anesthesia and ensure patient safety during MRI procedures.
  • Safely operate anesthesia and patient monitoring equipment within the MRI environment while following all MRI safety protocols.
  • Assist board-certified neurologists during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records and patient documentation.
  • Provide exceptional nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians, RVTs, and support staff to ensure efficient patient care and workflow.
  • Communicate with clients regarding patient care, procedures, and recovery as needed.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly functioning anesthesia and monitoring equipment.
  • Assist in optimizing workflows and improving processes that support the continued growth of the MRI service.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative hospital culture focused on exceptional patient outcomes.
