About The Position

Plans, coordinates, supervises, and carries out the activities of the ultrasound area. Work is carried out in an independent, professional manner with minimal supervision. Assist physicians with various procedures, guiding instruments using sonographic techniques. Perform ultrasound procedures including doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound. Collaborate in quality control of equipment and filming and obtains service as required. Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures. Provide direction and instruction to existing personnel and training to new sonographers. Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients. Report changes in patient condition to medical staff. Provide an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist. Evaluate quality of sonograms. Determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated. Proficient at all arterial and venous studies including; venous reflux, renal arteries, arterial studies to include all types of bypass grafts, dialysis graft and fistula evaluations, and vein mapping for bypass and dialysis access. Utilize accessory equipment such as selective transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, VNUS Closure, and PACS workstations. Assist the medical staff in development of new ultrasound techniques and protocols. Coordinate scheduling and patient flow for multiple ultrasound sites. Responsible for maintaining and transporting ultrasound equipment and stocking ultrasound area with proper supplies. Ensure correct charging of ultrasound procedures and supplies on a daily basis. Evaluate quality of sonograms. Determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated. Maintain patient records in division. May be assigned to work a shift or take call at any ultrasound site within Tanner Health System. Responsible for OA/AC programs.

Requirements

  • Technical or Vocational school plus up to 2 years specialty training
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Requires working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures.
  • Healthcare Provider (CPR)
  • A.R.D.M.S. or registry eligible.
  • Must possess one ARDMS credential.
  • Must be a graduate of a Vascular or Cardiovasvula Ultrasound program.
  • Must be a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or registry eligible throught the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with a minimum of one (1) year experience in vascular testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Registry eligible candidates must become ARDMS within one year of graduation date.
