The Registered Ultrasound Technologist performs a variety of ultrasound procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative. Essential Job Functions include performing diagnostic ultrasound exams as ordered by providers, using the appropriate transducer to obtain quality images, ensuring transducer disinfection, properly identifying patients, ensuring correct patient information is entered into computer systems, completing exams on the Radiology Software System, and transmitting exams to the Radiologist. The technologist is responsible for maintaining a safe and hygienic work environment, adhering to Health and Safety Policies, and participating in safety programs. They must demonstrate an understanding of Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards, utilize the PACS work list, explain procedures to patients, and answer their questions. Maintaining an exceptional level of customer service, demonstrating El Rio Health Standards, and using AIDET principles are crucial. The role involves educating patients, providers, and staff on ultrasound procedures, ensuring correct CPT and ICD-10 codes for billing, maintaining professional licensure through ARDMS, and learning new software versions. The technologist contributes to team effort, complies with facility policies (including HIPAA and Compliance), and annually reviews job description and performance goals with the Radiology Manager.
