About The Position

Performs a variety of technical procedures utilizing diagnostic ultrasound equipment. This position is ECB status, requiring a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department, with limited benefit offerings. Applicants must be available for all shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and on call. This position has been identified as a safety sensitive position.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Technical Ultrasound Program.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) or Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (S) (ARRT).
• 6 months related experience preferred.
• Ability to perform basic ultrasound echo and/or peripheral vascular studies.
• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
• Available for emergency call back.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs a variety of technical procedures efficiently utilizing ultrasonic machinery for the diagnosis of disease.
• Positions, transfers and immobilizes patients, as necessary to perform diagnostic procedures.
• Adjusts machinery and ancillary equipment parameters in accordance with prescribed procedures to obtain diagnostic medical/legal ultrasound images.
• Assists in equipment calibration to maintain department standards.
• Understands and performs high level probe disinfection.
• Schedules exams and maintains department records.
• Assists in quality control programs for the maintenance of prescribed standards.
