About The Position

This position involves independently performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures and ultrasound-directed interventional procedures, adhering to proper techniques and protocols. The tech operates equipment within their scope of practice and in accordance with registry standards. Key responsibilities include coordinating patient flow and departmental activities, exercising professional judgment to maintain equipment, and potentially performing procedures in other imaging modalities as needed. The role may also include on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Allied Health with a major in Ultrasonography.
  • Credentialed in Ultrasound technology by one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Vascular Credentialed by one of the following: ARDMS- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or CCI (RVS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International, Registered Vascular Specialist.
  • Minimum of one additional registry in practiced specialties as approved by ARDMS: Abdomen, OB/GYN, muscular skeletal, Neurosonology, Breast.
  • CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Proficient in performing diagnostic procedures and obtaining diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage.
  • Advanced US applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or graduate of an accredited program.
  • 6 to 12 months of clinical experience in Ultrasound.

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and ultrasound directed interventional procedures utilizing proper techniques and protocols.
  • Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with registry in the operation of equipment.
  • Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Ultrasound Department.
  • Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs.
  • May have on call responsibilities.
