About The Position

The Registered Triage/Float Nurse I will utilize the nursing process to provide direct and indirect patient care in the Primary Medical Clinic. This position has a strong focus on walk-in and telephone triage and allows for a large degree of autonomy. The Nurse in this position will work closely with another triage nurse, with a team of medical providers and psychiatrists, and with other nurses to facilitate patient flow and must be able to identify urgent/emergent situations. Therefore, strong physical assessment skills and triage knowledge is essential. Due to fluctuations in patient volume, cross-training in other areas of the clinic is mandatory. Responsibilities include but are not limited to obtaining patient history and physical assessment, wound care, IV therapy, assisting with minor surgical procedures and administration of medications, application of orthopedic devices, immunizations, and treatments. This position will also assist with training and on-boarding of new triage and float nurses. This position is designated as a remote essential role and requires availability during campus closures or emergencies. In such events, a dedicated team of medical professionals will be on standby to provide care through telehealth services, if deemed appropriate. All telehealth services will comply with Arkansas State Medical Board regulations and consider the nature of the medical issue, patient preference, and available resources. All staff are required to take their UA-issued laptops home nightly during the work week and each weekend to ensure continuity of care and access to telehealth services during unexpected closures. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
